To help UK companies set up in business in Saudi Arabia, the UK Trade & Investment team at the British Embassy in Riyadh is introducing the ‘Soft Landing’ Programme. This will help UK companies to concentrate on business by taking away some of the logistical burden.

Saudi Arabia is one of the fastest growing and dynamic markets in the Middle East. Although not immune to the global financial downturn, Saudi Arabia, with its vast oil wealth, substantial monetary reserves and lack of indebtedness, is better placed to weather these difficult days than most markets. This has attracted the attention of exporting businesses world-wide, and the market is becoming increasingly competitive.

Historically Saudi Arabia has been a good market for the UK and the bilateral trading relationship is in good shape. There has been a tangible liberalisation of the commercial and legal frameworks in recent years, but UK exporters still have concerns about the difficulties that they might face in a very different market. The ‘Soft Landing’ Programme aims to address many of these concerns.

Working with our local partners the
Soft Landing Programme will deliver:

  • Managed access to serviced office accommodation with Regus Kingdom Centre, Riyadh at preferential rates;

  • Negotiated special rates at the Al Faisaliah, Al Khozama, InterContinental, Marriott, & Sheraton Hotels in Riyadh;

  • Support for company staff to move onto residential compounds;

  • Enhanced airline services from bmi;

  • Four hours dedicated time with a Riyadh based UK Trade & Investment Commercial Officer to be drawn down over the first twelve months of market entry;

  • A two-hour consultation with the international law firm Trowers and Hamlins;

  • Provision of Banking Services, including advice on setting up bank accounts from SABB;

  • English to Arabic Translation with a design & print service for business cards & Company literature;

  • Free entry in the Saudi British Trade Directory & Website Database.
